as promised, here’s my reaction thread/summary/speculations/theories about the Dead Apple Movie!!! sorry it’s a day late orz
everything under the cut because IT’S LONG. the CR subs comparison is c/o Fayto-san!!!! i watched the movie in SE Asia, so it’s a different company who handled the subtitles/distribution (it’s ODEX).
here goes! (also a warning/enticement: i’m shamelessly biased towards chuuya and soukoku)

For anyone interested, considering the fact that I… managed to get my hands on the Dead Apple script (somehow~), I’m gonna go ahead and post all the dialogue from the Chuuya vs dragon scene (including the following Soukoku scene) on here for everyone’s enjoyment. Check it out under the read more, but please be sure to avoid this if you don’t want Dead Apple spoilers.
Chuuya
(over the communications, standing on a plane): Get your shit
together, scrub.
Ango:
Chuuya-kun…
Dazai-kun is
almost certainly eliminated by now.
Do you understand
what that means?
Chuuya: I
don’t care.
Ango: Are
you sure?
You haven’t taken
your reward… My life.
Chuuya:
Don’t get cocky, asshole.
You were a lowly
infiltrator six years ago.
No one lent you an
ear when you opposed employing Shibusawa, did they?
This is nothing
but his bumbling.
That dimwit Dazai
is inside there.
No doubt about it.
I need to give him
a smack, or I’ll never get over it.
I’m hanging up.
Ango: I’m
counting on you.
(On the plane)
Tsujimura:
We’re approaching the target.
Chuuya:
You’re that chick from way back.
Tsujimura:
Tsujimura.
Are you really
going?
Chuuya:
Yeah.
Tsujimura:
It’s no use.
It’s a gifted
against a human.
That thing is a
monster beyond human comprehension.
Get overconfident
and fight it, and you’ll die.
Chuuya:
That’s not a reason to chicken out and go home.
Do you know when
it’s all right to chicken out and go home?
Tsujimura:
I do not.
Chuuya
(jumping off the plane): There is no such time.
Grantors of dark
disgrace, you need not wake me again.
(Chuuya
activates Corruption and the battle begins)
Tsujimura:
Amazing. The readings are all getting higher.
Ango: His
special ability is gravity control.
In this state of
contamination, having become a slave to gravitons, he can neither
control nor disable it.
Tsujimura:
So he has no control of it until he dies?
Ango:
Dazai-kun’s nullification ability is the only way to end it.
Without it, he’s
doomed.
Tsujimura:
No…
(Chuuya vs
dragon fight scene resumes)
Chuuya:
Dazai!
(Chuuya and
Dazai are seen floating within the dragon. Chuuya punches Dazai to
wake him. After Dazai wakes up, Chuuya coughs up blood, and Dazai
touches his cheek to disable corruption.)
Dazai: You
used Corruption, believing in me?
How beautiful.
Chuuya:
Yeah, I did.
I believed in your
disgusting craftiness and refusal to die.
Dazai: That
was a somewhat violent way of waking Snow White.
Chuuya:
You’re the one who hid an antidote in your mouth, knowing I’d punch
you.
(They fall to
the ground, with Dazai holding Chuuya)
Chuuya: Let
go, asshole.
Dazai:
Don’t move.
The fog hasn’t
cleared.
I don’t want to
have to protect you from your special ability in this situation.
(Sorry it took so long to reply – I wanted to do this ask justice!)
If I had to choose a word to define Chuuya, it would be Passion. Passion specifically refers to strong emotion, though what emotion is not attached, and I think that fits very well for my personal interpretation of Chuuya.
He’s passionate in his angry, in fighting and completing his missions.
He’s passionate in love.
He’s passionate in caring for others.
He’s passionate in his own personal identity (fashion, appearance in general)
He’s passionate about protecting his family
He’s passionate.
Chuuya’s like a fire, crackling and burning in every which way. It can burn, but it’ll also warm you up. He can be a good thing or a bad thing, or anything in between, and it all depends on what you mean to him. He’ll punch you with the same hurrah as he’ll kiss another, he’ll dance and drink and have the time of his life, and completely wreck a criminal organization the next day. He’ll cut someone’s throat, blossom their eye socket with a dark blue rose, or he’ll wrap a scarf around them, make them talk.
Chuuya is often acknowledged for being fierce and badass, while also compassionate and helpful. But there is a connection to those – he does every act in his life with as much passion as the other.
